Sri Lankan Cricket Team represents Sri Lanka in international cricket. Also referred as The Lions, it is managed by Sri Lanka Cricket. They played 1st first class match as Ceylon on 5-8 February 1927 against MCC. Sri Lankans got Test status in 1982 and became eighth Test cricket playing country by contesting their first test match against England on 17-21 February 1982. Sri Lanka made its debut in One Day International matches on 13 February 1982 against England. Sri Lankans played their first Twenty20 International on 15 June 2006 against England.

Sri Lanka has achieved many milestones and the 1996 Cricket World Cup win was its first landmark. Sri Lankans also won 2002 ICC Champions Trophy (co-champions with India). They were runners-up in 2007 and 2011 editions of ICC World Cup. Sri Lanka has also won ICC World T20 in 2014 and was runners-up in 2009 and 2012. Sri Lankans are the only ICC World Cup Qualifier (previously ICC Trophy) winner to have gone on to become the Cricket World Cup champions at a later date. The Lions are the only team that has played every edition of the Asia Cup.

Sri Lanka has played 241 Tests at the win percentage of 30.29% that includes 73 wins, 88 losses and 80 draws. Sri Lankans have winning percentage of 49.65% in 757 One Day Internationals contested where they won 358; lost 363, tied 4 and 32 ended in no result. Sri Lanka has played 69 Twenty20 Internationals with win percentage of 62.50% that comprises 42 wins, 25 losses, 1 tied and 1 no result.
